Welcome to the team site of the EIHA's England Programme

The English Ice Hockey Association (EIHA) is the body responsible for the sport of ice hockey in England and Wales.

The England program was formed in 1982 and in 1984 the Association appointed Bob Wilkinson to oversee the National Team Programme (NTP) for junior players and Mr. Wilkinson embarked upon an ambitious plan to develop the Team England Programme. Since then, under Bob Wilkinson’s stewardship, NTP has evolved and developed with team structure changes but in all respects a pathway to the GB program at U18’s was maintained and this remained the case until changes were announced to the junior age groups at the start of 2015.

With developments in women’s ice hockey the NTP was further expanded, in 2005, with the inclusion of a further two teams at U16 and senior women’s levels. Geoff Hemmerman was appointed to oversee the development of the new women’s section and together with Bob Wilkinson the Team England programme thrived.

In January 2016 the EIHA confirmed that a new structure was to be established for the programme providing the following opportunities for National Team level players:

- England U13 Girls
- England U13 Boys
- England U14 Boys
- England U15 Boys
- England U16 Girls
- England U19 Men

Under Geoff Hemmerman's stewardship the ENTP thrived with the creation of a number of new opportunities for an unprecedented number of players, coaches and support staff. The programme went on to deliver significant improvements in standards and performance until the COVID pandemic struck affecting all sports across the globe.

Now in the early summer of 2021 the Programme has a new Director and new ideas and opportunities are being considered for the challenge of a return to play and the re-establishment of Elite level opportunities under a new E21 banner. A new Coaching and Support team will be created and established over the coming weeks and months with the aim of increasing participation and seeking to inspire, motivate and improve standards and performance that together will Create and Build the E21 Legacy for 2021 and beyond.

The England National Team Programme’s Selection Camp for U13, U14 & U15 Teams for 2017/18 will be held over the week-end 19-21 August 2017.

We are proposing to run a 3 day camp, with three age groups each with 44 players made-up of 4 NM, 16 Defence and 24 Forwards.

The programme for 2017/18 will follow largely in line with the programme for 2016/17 although the emphasis will be on Player Development and not Team Dynamics.

There are many details still to be sorted-out and no further announcments will be made until after the 2017 Conference Tournament at the end of May.

Based on the last selection camp, participants can expect:

1. Camp fee to be in the order of £250 per player.
2. The camp will not be a residential camp so all arrangements for accommodation will need to be made by parents.
3. The camp will start at 6:00am for U13’s on Saturday 19th August. NOTE: We are considering holding a welcome meeting on Friday 18th August starting around 7pm – this will be confirmed by 30th June.
4. Meals, snacks and drinks will be provided to all participants on the 3 days using the ENTP “Menu”.
5. The Camp will consist of both on ice and off ice testing
6. The purpose of the camp is to Select Players for inclusion within the ENTP Development Team at U13, U14 and U15.
7. The teams will be selected in early 2018.
8. Players and Parents will need to sign the ENTP Code of Conduct and any breaches of the CoC may result in expulsion from the programme.
9. The Camp is not a “hockey school” and participants need to be aware that they are attending the camp on trial for selection to the England Programme.
10. There will be no preferential treatments or arrangements for any player who has previously been selected for any England Team.
